Positions for the academic year 2022/23 will be advertised in the vacancies section of the website in the summer. The Senior AfOx Visiting Fellowships build on the success of the on-going Af Ox Visiting Fellowship Programme. The Senior Fellowships enable sustained engagement including during term time, allowing F ellows to share their expertise broadly across Oxford as well as build broad long-term collaborations with Oxford researchers. Visiting Professors, Research Fellows and Lecturers are people external to Oxford University whose contribution to the department extends beyond the normal range of academic collaboration. They may be on sabbatical, secondment or leave from their home institutions; much more commonly though their involvement with the department is occasional day visits and remote collaboration.

Visiting Fellows can hold the association for up to 1 calendar year, and fellows must be in Oxford for part of that year to help curate and deliver the associated activities. Depending on the Fellowship, Fellows are usually given desk space in the Centre and certain practical assistance in their research. The Visiting Fellowships do not have any specific duties, as they do not constitute an employment.
