Founded in 2009 after Mollestad was awarded “the young jazz talent of the year” by Molde jazzfest, the trio was signed by Rune Grammofon in the following year. The Hedvig Mollestad Trio (also referred to as HM3) is made up of Hedvig Mollestad Thomassen on guitar, Ellen Brekken on double bass, and Ivar Loe Bjørnstad on drums.
